Don't Give Up
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
James 1:12-15
Don't give up. No matter how you feel or what you go through. Today's passage, along with many other passages in Scripture, reminds us how God blesses those who persevere and stand firm through every trial, trouble, or temptation. In simple terms, this means to continue to honor God even though it would have been easier not to. This presents one of the biggest issues with sin and why people become ensnared in it. Sin is often the easiest route. It is the thing that is most in line with what everyone else is doing. It is the option that would least offend or ruffle the feathers of others. And because it is often the easiest thing to do, those who do not have conviction in that area and a desire to honor God above self usually choose the easy path. But the easy path usually leads to a place we do not want to go. It may look good at first, but the end result is the opposite of what we truly want. Whenever we face trials, troubles, or temptations, our first question should not be to ask what is the simplest and fastest escape, but we should ask how we can honor God and learn to depend more on Him through whatever circumstance we face.
