Kicking the Habit
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today we want to share one final reason why worry, fear, and anxiety is something that we can set aside and how the Bible can bring us hope when we are feeling overwhelmed in our thoughts. The truth is, no matter how we slice it, that worry is a choice. And it was a choice you learned how to make from the world. Often, our brain becomes so ingrained with a certain way of thinking that we make the choice to worry without even really thinking about it. Worry becomes our default. This means kicking the habit which may be difficult, but not impossible especially if we are approaching it through prayer and with the power of God on our side. With God, all things are possible.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God… whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

The truth is that we learn how to worry, but through God’s word we can learn how to rewire and retrain our hearts and minds to be realigned with a Godly worldview. God already knows what we need and how and when to give it to us. This revelation brings so much hope because we have a God who cares about our every need! He is not a God who we need to hide our worries from, but instead we can speak to Him openly. We have the great joy of going to God in prayer, telling him our anxious thoughts, and asking Him to give us strength in overcoming anxiety.
