Pursuing the Treasure
of Wisdom
“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
Wisdom is one of the most valuable treasures we can seek. It is not merely knowledge or intelligence but the ability to discern God’s will and apply it in every area of our lives. Proverbs 4:7 reminds us that obtaining wisdom should be a priority, even if it requires sacrifice.
Why is wisdom so essential? Because it guides us to live righteously, make sound decisions, and navigate life’s complexities with grace and confidence. Wisdom helps us to see circumstances from God’s perspective, avoiding pitfalls and embracing His best for us.
Seeking wisdom requires humility and intentionality. It begins with reverence for God: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). This means acknowledging His sovereignty and aligning our hearts with His truth.
Practical ways to pursue wisdom include studying God’s Word, praying for discernment, learning from godly mentors, and building relationships with people who will point you to Jesus. James 1:5 offers a reassuring promise: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Are you prioritizing it in your daily life? What sacrifices might God be calling you to make to grow in understanding? Trust that as you seek Him, He will generously provide the wisdom you need to walk in His ways. One resource we have at True North is the Business Leader Collective.
