The Importance
Biblical Community
Change is an inevitable part of life, and these seasons of transition can feel overwhelming. During these times, the need for strong, faith-centered relationships and a supportive biblical community becomes even more evident.
The Call to Community
From the very beginning, God designed us for relationships. In Genesis 2:18, God declares, “It is not good for the man to be alone.” This statement highlights the intrinsic human need for connection. While this verse speaks of the creation of Eve as a companion to Adam, the principle extends to all of humanity—we thrive in relationships.
The New Testament echoes this call to community. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages believers to “consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Gathering with other believers provides a space for encouragement, accountability, and spiritual growth.
The church is described as the body of Christ, where each member plays a vital role (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). This analogy underscores the importance of being deeply connected to a local church, especially during seasons of change.
In biblical community, we find people who rejoice with us in victories and mourn with us in trials (Romans 12:15). We are reminded that we are not alone in our struggles, and we can lean on others for support. Moreover, being part of a community allows us to exercise our spiritual gifts for the benefit of others, fulfilling God’s purpose in our lives.

Strength in Relationships During Change
When life shifts, it’s easy to feel isolated or disconnected. However, Christian relationships can serve as an anchor. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us of the strength found in companionship: “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” In seasons of change, having friends and mentors grounded in Christ can offer stability and guidance.
Practical ways to nurture these relationships include doing life with others both organically, but also intentionally in environments like Crews and on Team. This provides avenues for:

- Intentional Communication: Developing trusted friends and mentors. Sharing your struggles and victories, and allowing others to speak truth into your life.
- Accountability and Covering of Prayer: James 5:16 emphasizes the power of prayer within relationships: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
- Serving Together: Serving on team with others not only builds stronger bonds but also aligns with Christ’s example of humility and love (John 13:14-15) and His design for the local church..
Better Together
In times of change, the importance of Christian relationships and biblical community cannot be overstated. Through these connections, we experience God’s love, grow in our faith, and find the strength to face new challenges. As Proverbs 27:17 states, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Let us seek out and invest in these life-giving relationships, trusting that God will use them to guide us through every season of life.
