DAY NINETEEN

Spiritual Gifts

"To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines."
1 Corinthians 12:8-11

Have you ever found something in your pocket you weren’t expecting? Maybe a $20 dollar bill? There is excitement when you come across something you didn’t know you had. Just as you may find things you didn’t know you had on you, God has put gifts and talents in you that you were born with called ministry and motivational gifts, and also other spiritual gifts listed in the verse above that flow through us through the power of the Holy Spirit. When it comes to spiritual gifts, these are not ours. We are only stewards of the gifts God has given to us, and God desires for us to use these gifts to expand the kingdom of God. Laying hands on someone and praying for their healing, knowing something about a person's situation you couldn't possibly know in the natural and even speaking in a heavenly language are all examples of Spiritual gifts in action. These gifts were at work in the early church and they are available today as well. The use of spiritual gifts should always point people to Jesus and bring attention towards Him, not to how spiritual or great we are. We are simply vessels being used by God in a supernatural way. God has made these gifts available to each and every one of us who has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. These are gifts God has provided to edify and expand the local church. Pray today that God would fill you with the Holy Spirit and that you would become a vessel to be used by God in a supernatural way.
