A Free Offer
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted”.
Matthew 5:4
These words came from the lips of Jesus himself while looking out upon a crowd familiar with pain, sadness, and grief. Those who mourn from a place of love hold a special place in God's heart as well as in the eyes of his one and only son. God looks at you like a parent who gives special attention to the child who is suffering. It's not that they love that child any more or any less than others. It's that the loving father or mother knows the importance of comfort in a time of need.
Jesus is freely offering that comfort. He understands the pain and the feeling of having a broken heart all too well. Jesus is able to empathize with what we are going through no matter what it is. Not only does Jesus want you to experience comfort and peace in your hour of need, but He also wants to extend blessing to you. He desires that the version of you which comes out of this mourning on the other side will be stronger, more resilient, and more dependent on him than ever before.
You are in a unique position because you hold the special attention and interest of God. Think about how amazing that is! God wants you to turn to him and allow him to provide you with something that can only be found in him: true comfort and rest. Like a mother rocking a sick child to sleep, true rest in the midst of pain and suffering can only be found in God. You need only to ask for it.
