HOW DO I GROW IN MY WALK WITH JESUS?

KEY POINTS

  • Five Ways to grow in your walk with Jesus: Read the Bible, Be in Community, Pray Regularly, Serve Others, and Give Generously.
Read the Bible
If you want to hear from God, read his word. Romans 10:17 says “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” If you want to grow your faith, it comes from reading the bible.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Be in Community
We are better together. Through relationships with other believers, God refines, encourages, and builds us up.

Hebrews 10:24-25 says “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

You will be encouraged, prayed for, and built up when you do life together with other Christians

Pray Regularly
Prayer works. God calls us first and foremost to be in a relationship with him. Just like every other relationship in your life, it requires communication. Prayer is not just talking to God but listening to him. Prayer is not just getting what you want from God but aligning yourself with him. You will grow in your walk with Jesus when you pray continually.

James 5:16 says “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Serve Others
We are saved to serve. Serving God and serving others is a sign you are maturing. One of the reason Jesus came was to serve. Matthew 20:28 says “ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

1 Peter 4:10-11 “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Give Generously
We give generously because he first gave. God gave his one and only son so that we could live in freedom and blessing. But that blessing isnt just for us but so we can be a blessing to others. Living a generous life is also a sign you are walking in maturity.

2 Corinthians 9:6 “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
