WHY IS SERVING IN CHURCH IMPORTANT?

KEY POINTS

  • Principle of stewarding the gifts and talents given to you by God. They have been entrusted to steward and use to serve the body of believers and the world.
  • The Local church is God’s redemptive plan for humanity, The church is important to God and should be important for every believer.
Serving in church is primarily important because of the principle of stewardship. God has blessed and given each person with gifts and talents to contribute to the body of Christ. As seen in Matthew 25:14-30, this parable illustrates that each person has been given talents to use to glorify God.

The Local church is God’s redemptive plan for humanity. It is referred to in scripture as the body of Christ and when Christ returns, his bride. The church is important to God and should be important for every believer.

1 Corinthians 12:12 - For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ

Just as in the Old Testament the people of Israel did live together and gathered in the temple, the New Testament believers are united together in and through the local church. In the gathering, every believer has gifts and talents that they have been entrusted to steward and use to serve the body of believers and the world. These gifts are not even our own, but have been given by Christ for the work of ministry.

1 Peter 4:10 - Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms
