Don't Believe Lies
When struggling with depression, you may feel alone or have thoughts that make you feel as though no one understands you or what you are experiencing. Despite these thoughts and feelings, it is critical that you don’t believe these lies. There are people around you that will come alongside you as you navigate this season. Although you may feel like staying isolated and keeping your pain a secret, it is important that throughout your healing journey you stay connected with others who can come around you and support you.
We truly believe we are all better together. We aren’t just better together when everything is going great in our lives, but rather, when we are open and honest with one another. There's no way to know what the person sitting beside you in church or in your crew has been through or is going through. They could be experiencing a similar situation as you or they could have walked that same path and you would never know unless you step out and connect with them.
Although stepping into community may feel daunting, the Lord reminds us that His Holy Spirit will give us strength to do the things that He is calling us to do in every season. Jeremiah 41:10 reminds us of this by saying, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
We know that God has called us to be in community with other believers in all seasons. We want to encourage and challenge you today to think about your community and then consider the blessing of being a part of a biblical community in this season. Consider people who can encourage you, walk with you, and experience life with you.
