DAY SIX
The Holy Spirit
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them
Acts 2:2-4
Acts 2:2-4
As Christians, we need The Holy Spirit to accomplish what God has for us. The Holy Spirit is as much a part of the Godhead as God the Father and Jesus. The Holy Spirit is a gift given by the Father so that we can be empowered to be effective witnesses of the Gospel. The Holy Spirit was first seen in scripture at the beginning. In Genesis 1:2 it says, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” This same Holy Spirit poured out on believers in the New Testament on Pentecost in Acts 2 and more people became believers in that one day than in the previous three years of Jesus' ministry. God desires for each of us to be Spirit-filled, Spirit-led, and Spirit-empowered. A believer can be filled with the spirit the same way that you were saved. Simply call on the name of the Lord, ask to be filled with the Spirit, and believe that you have been filled. The only thing left to do after that is to put yourself in situations where God can work beyond your own limited skills and abilities and watch God move through you.
