TEAM PILLARS

The foundation of our team is built on four pillars that recognize who God is, our purpose as His creation, and his desire to use the good gifts he has afforded us to point people to His glory. These pillars also acknowledge God’s design for the local church and his intention in working through people to share the Gospel and build His Kingdom.
Response
God created the heavens, the earth, and everything in between—including us. Genesis 1:27 tells us that humanity was created in His image, giving us the ability to know God, love Him, live in relationship with Him, and reflect His glory. Our hope and purpose are found in Jesus, and our response to Him is worship.

For the Media Team at True North Church, worship is expressed through the way we see, capture, and share what God is doing. Worship is not limited to songs or moments on a stage—it is a lifestyle. Through photography, social media, and b-roll, we tell the story of God at work in His people. We capture moments that point others to Him, highlight life change, and create pathways for people to encounter Jesus—sometimes before they ever step through the doors.

We honor God by remaining connected to Him relationally, surrendered to His design for living, and obedient to His Word as it shapes both our perspective and our creative choices. From behind the camera and through every post, frame, and clip, we serve with excellence and intentionality, knowing that what we create can encourage faith, invite curiosity, and inspire worship in others.

While our work is often seen on screens and platforms, the foundation of our ministry is built when no one is watching. The heart behind the lens matters just as much as the skill behind it. Day by day, we pursue God, allowing Him to shape our character so that our creativity flows from a place of genuine worship.

In every moment we capture and every story we tell, our call is obedience and our response is worship.
Stewardship
God has uniquely gifted each of us, and those gifts were given with purpose—to point back to Him and to serve His desire to restore humanity to Himself. Scripture calls us in 1 Peter 4:10 to use our gifts to serve others and to steward them faithfully. Stewardship begins with understanding that these gifts are not ours to own, but ours to manage on God’s behalf.

For the Media Team at True North Church, this means that our abilities in photography, social media, and video are entrusted to us by God and are meant to be developed, refined, and multiplied. Stewarding our gifts goes beyond simply showing up and using them—it requires intentional growth. We are called to invest time and effort into sharpening our skills, learning our tools, and improving our craft so that what we create clearly and powerfully reflects God’s excellence.

Each team member plays a vital role in creating moments and stories that help people see and experience what God is doing. As we steward our gifts well, we create content that invites others into worship, builds trust, and communicates the heart of True North with clarity and authenticity. Growth in our gifting directly impacts our ability to serve the church and reach people effectively.

Being part of this team means embracing both responsibility and opportunity: responsibility to steward our hearts with humility and surrender, and opportunity to steward our gifts through preparation, practice, and continual development. Excellence is not about perfection, but about faithfulness—choosing to grow, improve, and give our best with what God has entrusted to us.

This kind of stewardship does not happen by default. It requires commitment, discipline, generosity, and unity as we pursue growth together, believing that as we develop our gifts, God will use them to amplify His message and glorify His name.
Unity
1 Corinthians 12 reminds us that the Church functions as the body of Christ, with many parts working together in unity. Each part is different, yet every part is essential. God created each of us uniquely, but He designed us to thrive in community, not in isolation. From the global Church, to the local church, and all the way down to our media team, unity is a vital part of God’s design.

For the Media Team at True North Church, unity means serving under one shared vision, mission, and purpose—to help people encounter Jesus. While our roles may look different—photography, social media, video, or b-roll—we function as one team telling one story. We recognize that we are better together, choosing collaboration over competition and setting aside personal preference or individual ambition so that the collective mission is elevated above ourselves.
Unity builds loyalty. We value one another not only for our skills, but for who we are as children of God. We champion what God is uniquely doing in and through each person on this team, understanding that our diversity of perspectives, creativity, and strengths reflects God’s intentional design for His Church. Even though much of our work happens behind the scenes, our unity is visible through the consistency, clarity, and heart behind what we create.

Unity also shapes how we care for one another. We pursue restoration, choosing to be as unoffendable as possible and committed to walking in transparency and grace. When challenges arise, we follow biblical principles in how we communicate and resolve them. We are quick to ask for forgiveness, quick to forgive, and intentional about extending grace to one another, knowing that none of us are perfect.

Above all, we care for each other beyond our roles and output. We invest in people, not just their contribution to the team, desiring to see one another healthy spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. As we function in unity, we reflect God’s design for His Church and honor Him in the way we serve together—telling His story with one heart, one purpose, and one voice.
Leadership
This principle carries both a personal and a collective responsibility. Scripture consistently calls us to lead ourselves well before we attempt to lead others. For the Media Team at True North Church, this begins with a daily, intentional pursuit of Jesus. We commit to being spiritually filled by spending time in God’s Word, remaining rooted in biblical community, and ordering our priorities in obedience to the season God has placed us in. We cannot operate from a place of spiritual deficit, and we cannot guide others toward a depth with God that we are unwilling to pursue ourselves.

Although much of our work happens behind the scenes, the influence of this team is significant. The content we create and share often shapes perception, sets tone, and communicates the heart of our church to people both inside and outside the building. Because of that influence, we carry the responsibility to lead by example—allowing our character, integrity, humility, and consistency to reflect Christ in both visible and unseen moments.

Leading ourselves well directly impacts how we lead others. Scripture points to the importance of aligning heart and action—living with integrity, wisdom, and faithfulness in all that we do. For the Media Team, this means pairing a surrendered heart with intentional skill development. We pursue excellence not for recognition, but because faithfulness honors God and serves people well. Growth in both character and competence allows our leadership to be trustworthy and effective.

Ultimately, our goal is to steward influence responsibly. Through every image, video, and post, we aim to remove distractions and clearly point people toward Jesus. We are not drawing attention to ourselves or our creativity, but using what God has entrusted to us to serve others well. As we lead ourselves with obedience and humility, we are able to lead others with clarity and purpose—helping create space for people to encounter the hope, truth, and life found in Christ.

TEAM VALUES

The values we prioritize as a team speak to the heart of how we operate and work alongside one another to carry out the mission of True North using our collective gifts for the glory of God.
Flexibility & Teachability
As a team, we have an adaptable attitude, ready to embrace any changes or adjustments that may arise. The ability to change on the fly is essential, as creative direction and service variables can shift; flexibility is key to keeping the process smooth. Collaboration and growth are central to the way we serve, so we value a willingness to receive feedback, be critiqued, and execute things differently. Our eagerness to learn, develop, and grow ensures we can continue to foster the best possible outcome together in pursuit of Jesus.
Communication & Collaboration
Effective communication and collaboration are essential to our success as a team. We expect you to stay organized, manage your time well, and prioritize preparedness. Asking questions when something is unclear is important and welcomed! Additionally, we encourage you to express any concerns openly, so we can address issues promptly and maintain healthy, Godly relationships. Clear, proactive communication will help us work together efficiently and ensure everyone is on the same page.

Communication is also vital to collaboration; we know we are better together. Playing in unity requires experience, trust, and a desire to be shoulder-to-shoulder with other team members.  It also requires the surrender of personal preference to prioritize the collective impact of the team. We focus on leading people into the presence of God by eliminating distractions, working cohesively, and being sensitive to how the Lord is leading our team to serve together within every moment of worship.

Family & Community
God places great value on family, having created us to live and thrive within it. The church is God's family, designed for us to exist in relationship with one another. We view the worship team as a smaller family within the big family, and we hope you experience that as an intentional part of the culture we aim to carry out.

While being part of this team reflects that vision, it will not fully meet every individual's need for community. That's why we place a high value on Crews, our small groups within the church, and encourage all team members to be active and connected.  We also encourage the team to leverage all of the opportunities across the life of True North to build meaningful relationships that will point you back to God.

Even with that perspective in mind, your family comes first, and we want to come alongside you to support that priority in every season you might walk through.

Inspiring People to Next Steps
We believe God is always inviting people to take a next step toward Him—no matter where they are on their spiritual journey. Scripture reminds us that God has placed eternity in the hearts of every person, creating a deep, God-shaped longing that nothing else can fully satisfy. Whether someone is walking closely with Jesus or feels far from Him, that longing points to a need for relationship with God.

For the Media Team, this means creating content that does more than inform or inspire—it gently challenges, invites, and prompts action. Through photography, video, and social media, we aim to highlight what God is doing in ways that awaken “Holy FOMO”—a recognition that something eternal and life-giving is happening, and no one was meant to miss it. We tell stories that help people see the gap between where they are and what God is offering, while also making the path forward feel clear, hopeful, and accessible.

Our role is to encourage tangible next steps—attending a service, joining a group, saying yes to prayer, serving others, or simply taking a first step toward Jesus. We communicate in a way that removes confusion, reduces fear, and emphasizes invitation over pressure. Every image, clip, and post is an opportunity to point people toward a meaningful encounter with God.

More than anything else, we steward our creativity to help people recognize their need for God and respond to His invitation. By highlighting moments of transformation, community, and worship, we create space for people to see what life with Jesus looks like—and to take one step closer to experiencing it for themselves.

TECH POLICIES

Below are technical policies to help you become more familiar with the equipment we use on a Sunday and to improve your craft in your personal practice time.
True North Equipment Policy
Here are True North we desire that tools never be a reason for lack. Meaning if we can provide equipment tool to better resource you - then we'll do it!

For photography and videography, you are welcome to use your own equipment upon approval, but we also have multiple DSLR's lenses and a cinematic camera available for use.

We also will supply each photographer with their own SD card and case upon joining team. It is the photographers responsibility to bring that SD card back and forth from church. If you loose or break this initial given card, you are responsible to replace it.

We have multiple mic packs and phones available for the social team. Team members will not be using their own phones.

You are expected to handle all equipment with care. DSLR's should always be worn around your neck. All lenses and caps should be placed back as you found them. Equipment should not be left unattended and should not be given or provided to non-team members for use, storage, or temporary holding.

If something is malfunctioning or broken please report it right away.
Content Ownership
Photos and videos should be uploaded the same day as the event/sunday. You do not own any of the images or videos you create and capture. Even if you choose to use your own equipment to shoot them, upon joining this team you agree to release every image to the ownership of True North church via the current upload process.

Additionally, please do not send any photos to friends or people who may ask for them. We have a process for specific events for this and value the safety of our people and branding of our image.

What is the onboarding process for media team?
If you’re interested in joining the Media Team, start by clicking the “Join Media Team” button under the Serving on Team tab and completing the interest form.

Once submitted, you’ll be contacted by Arielle to schedule an interest meeting. This meeting is an opportunity to learn more about the team, expectations, and where you might best serve.

If your interest is in photography, an additional meeting with Nicolette will be scheduled. During this step, you’ll complete a skill assessment form and discuss your experience level and any personal equipment you may have.

After these conversations, you’ll move into the official onboarding process, where you’ll receive next steps and training details.

To be fully matriculated and cleared to serve on the team, all members must complete a background check prior to serving.
We’re excited to see how your gifts can help tell the story of what God is doing through our church.
