Part 4: Stages of Spiritual Growth

Feb 4, 2026    Ps. Brian Bast

Spiritual growth moves through stages—from spiritual death to spiritual maturity—ending in believers who multiply disciples. Rooted in 2 Peter 1 and 1 Peter 2, this journey isn’t about gaining knowledge, but growing in dependence on God. As we mature, we don’t outgrow our need for grace; we become more aware of it. True maturity is marked not by confidence in ourselves, but humility before Jesus. Like the leaders in John 8 who walked away first, those closest to God often recognize their need for mercy most. The real question isn’t how deep we are, but whether we’re decreasing so Christ can increase.
