The Claim That Shaped Eternity

Mar 1, 2026    Ps. John Kelly

The room was packed. People pressed against the doorways and crowded the windows, straining to hear Jesus teach. Then suddenly, dust began falling from the ceiling. A hole was being torn open in the roof. Four desperate men lowered their paralyzed friend down into the center of the room, right in front of Jesus.

Everyone expected a healing.

Instead, Jesus said something no one saw coming:

“Friend, your sins are forgiven.”

The room went silent.

The religious leaders were outraged—not because they doubted the theology, but because they understood it perfectly. Only God can forgive sins. And they were right.

So what was Jesus claiming? This message invites us into that moment and into the question that still echoes today: Who is Jesus, really? Not just a teacher. Not just a prophet. Not just a moral example—but God in the flesh. Eternal. Equal with the Father. The great “I AM.”

If that’s true, then the cross becomes more than a symbol of sacrifice. It becomes the moment when the Creator stepped into His creation… when God Himself bore the weight of our sin.

And suddenly the question isn’t theoretical anymore. It’s personal.

Is Jesus simply inspiring to you…or is He your Lord, your Savior, and your God?

In this message:

• We wrestle with the most important question of our lives

• We see Jesus claim the authority to forgive sins

• We explore Scripture’s testimony to His divinity

• We discover why His identity is essential for salvation

• And we meet a woman who recognized who He truly was
